Bio

Like her mother, Michelle grew up in a military base in the Philippines and currently lives in Penngrove, CA. After working in commercial operations in the pharmaceutical industry for 14 years, she moved to London to pursue a postgraduate art degree at Goldsmiths University of London. 

Michelle's mixed media work was recently exhibited in the 2023 de Young Open. In 2022, she received the Creative Sonoma ArtSurround Grant and the YBCA Artist Power Convenings Grant. The  found and commonplace materials in her works  are visual metaphors, which address fragility and resilience amidst trauma. The recurring themes in her work are related to healing and memory.

She was the Treasurer of the North Bay Performing Arts Association from 2024 to 2025 and a Board Member of the Great Wall of Oakland from 2016 to 2017. Michelle is also a certified STOTT PILATES® mat and reformer instructor.
